"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
- 2 Timothy 2:3
How many of us choose to endure hardness? Isn't it our natural response to pick the easy way, to stay in our "comfort zone"
The Christian life is not one of ease. God wants us to fight the good fight. We will face disappointments and storms in this life, but Christ has already won the Battle. We can rely on Him to give us strength and courage.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." -Philippians 4:13
How does a good soldier endure hardness?
- He puts others first.
- He does not complain.
- He obeys his commander.
- He is not afraid to work hard.
- He trains and prepares for battle.
- He has a purpose that drives him.
There are many characteristics we could name of a good soldier. God wants us to have these same principles in our lives.
He wants us to be faithful to:
Our church, Service, Prayer, and In our Daily Walk.
He wants us to be hard workers.
- 'Work for the night is coming.'
He wants us to be uncomfortable. - Don't stay in your comfort zone.
God will use you if your yielded to Him, but how many times do we make excuses instead. Ask God to help you, if you're shy, He'll give you boldness to witness. If you think you're unqualified to serve ask Him to show you how you can be a blessing. - God wants to use you!
He wants us to encourage baby Christians.
Teach them, protect them and love them. Be a blessing to new Christians, and young children.
Read your Bible and Don't Forget Your Spiritual Armour.
Satan attacks us daily and unless we prepare for this battle daily we'll stumble and fall.
There are many more things we can learn about being a soldier in the Lords army, but for now I've run out of time.
I'd like to personally invite you to our Vacation Bible School; August 10th-14th from 6-8pm.
We will be learning about our spiritual armor and how we can be Soldiers of Christ.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Love in Christ,
